Help can also be needed at Christmas time and the holiday season can seem difficult in many ways. You don’t have to cope alone. We compiled a list of services that are also open at Christmas time.
- Urgent and life-threatening situations: – Always call the emergency number 112.
- Help with sudden health problems from the emergency care of the welfare areas at number 116 117. Medical Helpline is open 24/7.
- MIELI Mental Health Finland provides crisis assistance and support in order to prevent mental health problems and suicides. The Crisis Helpline allows you to discuss your thoughts, feelings and situation in life with a crisis worker or a trained volunteer. Call Crisis Helpline tel. +358 9 2525 0116. - Sekasin chat is open every day of the year. The chat is intended for young people between the ages of 12 and 29. Service is provided in Finnish. More in here in Finnish.

- The church’s help desk offers help via the service phone every day from 6 pm to12 pm and a chat, which is open Mon-Fri from 4 pm 8 pm. Service is provided in Finnihs. More info here in Finnish.
- FSHS serves students on weekdays also around the Christmas holidays. Check the opening hours of your own service point on the YTHS website.
- Online Shelter helps all parties involved in violent relationships. More info here.
- Professional help and tools to alleviate loneliness is available in Finnish. The service is offered by HelsinkiMission. More info in Finnish here.
