Project Yhdessä Yhteisöksi

The aim of the project Yhdessä yhteisöksi (2018–2020) is to strengthen students’ sense of being part of a community and a group. Through an increased sense of community, we aim to counteract feelings of loneliness and exclusion among students. The aim is to change the general attitudes and operating culture and to strengthen the higher education communities’ skills and readiness to improve the sense of community.

The project activities are aimed at all students in higher education, student tutors and study communities, which refers to the people working in student organisations, educational institutions, student health care and other student support services. The University of Jyväskylä and Laurea University of Applied Sciences will act as pilot universities in this project.

If you have any suggestions or ideas on how to increase the sense of community in higher education institutions, particularly in regards to students who don’t speak Finnish and exchange students, we would love to hear about them.

This project, which is being funded by STEA (Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations), is led by Nyyti ry. The project partners are

University of Jyväskylä
The Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä JYY
