Nyyti ry’s QueerMieli -project is conducting a Minority Stress and Experiences of Discrimination survey in in the autumn 2024. The survey is directed at all LGBTIQA+ -students studying in Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences. All undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome to answer the survey.
The aim of the survey is to map out the queer friendliness of universities and understand the experiences of minority stress and discrimination of LGBTIQA+ students. The questions are divided into themes such as university atmosphere, experiences of discrimination and harassment, experiences in student healthcare and responding to discrimination in universities. It takes approx. 45-60 minutes to fill out the survey. The survey is available in Finnish, Swedish and English.
QueerMieli -project’s aim is to better the mental wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ -university students with peer support, educational and advocacy work. With this survey we hope to produce valuable information about the situation of LGBTIQA+ -students in Finnish universities. Such a survey has never been conducted at this length or form on a national level.
